Found in Nicaragua and Costa Rica in mossy rainforests at elevations around 700 to 1200 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with erect steme enveloped by red coffeee colored sheaths and carrying elliptic, shortly acuminate leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on short, successively single flowered inflorescence arising from a group of 2.8 to 4", imbricate, ellipsoid, subglabrous bracts
