Common Name Hopp's Sobralia [German Collector in Colombia early 20th cent]

Flower Size 4.8" [12 cm]

Found on the western slopes of the central cordillera Colombia at elevations of 1500 to 2000 meters as a giant sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with erect, robust stems carrying erect-patent, elliptic, acuminate, sessile, plicate, multi-nerved leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, 8" [20 cm] long, flexuous, successively single, 5 to 8 flowered, subglabrous to sparsely furfuraceous inflorescence with large, erect-patent, basically oval, acuminate floral bracts.
