Flower Size 4 to 6 1/2" [10 to 16 cm]
Found in Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia as a large to giant sized, warm to hot growing terrestrial or epiphyte at altitudes below 1000 meters with elongate stems carrying several, broad, elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous above, more or less scurfy below, 9 veined beneath leaves with verrucose leaf-sheaths that blooms in summer and early fall on a short, terminal, arising through a group of ellipsoid bracts, single flowered inflorescence with large, fragrant, short-lived flowers.
This myrmecophilus species is often found in conjunction with ants and may benefit from their presence.
Similar to but it has the lip tube being strongly compressed, and a strong distinctive perfume scent, and the small basal calli as well as the color which is consistent throughout its range.
