Common Name The Thin Leafed Sobralia

Flower Size 2.8" [7 cm]

Found in Guyana, Venezuela and Peru in bogs and on banks of watercourses or along margins of fast flowing, black waters on sandstone or in sandy soils at elevations of 750 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, terete stem enveloped completely by leafless and leaf-bearing above sheaths and carrying several distichous, rigidly coriaceous, linear, plicate, 7 nerved, acute leaves and blooms on a 2" [5 cm] long, successively few flowered inflorescence with inflated, acuminate floral bracts and fleshy flowers.

The photo of Sobralia stenophylla also depicts a Phragmipedium ion the lower left corner.
