Common Name Kautsky's Laelia [Brazilian Orchid Collector current]
Flower Size 3" [7.5 cm]
Found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil in the shady forests amongst grasses at elevations of 800 to 1000 meters as a medium sized, warm growing, rupicolus orchid with obclaviform, elongate pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, coriaceous, elliptic-elongate, straight leaves that blooms in the winter on an apical, to 16" [to 40 cm] long, to 12 flowered inflorescence with up to 6 flowers open at any one time.
Easily recognized in the wild by its long, cylindrical pseudobulbs and the long inflorescence.
