Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil at elevations around 1300 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with aggregate, cylindric, 3 internoded pseudobulbs enveloped by imbricating, deciduous sheaths in youth and carrying a single, straight, coriaceous, smooth, dark green above, violet beneath, elliptic-elongate leaf that blooms in the winter on an apical, arising through a linear spathe, to 22.4" [to 56 cm] long, successively opening to 12 flowered inflorescence.
