Common Name The Violet Sophronitella
Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]
Fpund in eastern Brazil in heavily shaded, mountainous humid forests at moderate elevations as a small sized, creeping, hot to cool growing epiphyte and occasional lithophyte found with densely clustered, robust, oblong-fusiform or narrowly ovoid, basally 1 or 2 noded pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, fleshy-coriaceous, linear, conduplicate, sharply acute, and minutely apiculate leaves that blooms on an erect, 2" [5 cm] long, shorter than the leaves, 1 or 4 flowered inflorescence that has acute, ovate bracts occuring in the late winter and spring in Brazil and late autumn through mid winter in cultivation.
This species grows best mounted on cork or treefern and kept humid and in bright light with regular waterings.
