Found in New Caledonia along embankments, scrublands and in grasslands as a large to giant sized, warm to hot growing terrestrial with very long, plicate leaves that blooms on a 2 1/2' [75 cm] long, erect, basal, racemose few to many flowered inflorescence occuring in the fall. This species is a synonym of or is allied to and very similar in all parts to Spathoglottis plicata and the major difference is in the size of all parts including the flowers.
