Found in central and southeastern Yunnan province of China, Myanmar and Thailand in scrub and on grassy limestone slopes at elevations of 800 to 2500 meters as a miniature to small sized warm to cold growing terrestrial with oblong tubers giving rise to a slender stem with 2 tubular, membraneous, basal sheaths and carrying a single basal, abaxially purplish red, adaxially deep green with dark purple spots, cordate, elliptic to ovate, sparsely pubescent on mai veins on both surfaces, acute apically leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect to slightly curved, provided with 2 to 3 sterlile, lanceolate, pubescent bracts, 4.8 to 16" [12 to 40 cm] long, papillose, rachis 1.6 to 4" [4 to 10 cm] long, 7 to more than 20 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, to triangular-ovate, acute to acuminate, 1 to 3 veined, usually shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
