Common Name or Meaning The Ring-Shaped Stanhopea

Flower Size 1 3/5" [4 cm]

Found in southern Colombia, northeastern Ecuador and Bolivia in tropical wet and wet montane forests on western slopes at elevations of 100 to 950 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte or terrestrial on steep embankments with ovate, rugose, black pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, plicate, broadly elliptical, acute leaf with a distinct petiole that blooms at any time of the year on a pendant, 2 flowered inflorescence with large chartaceious bracts.
