Common Name The Medium Sized Stanhopea

Flower Size 2.8 to 3.6" [7 to 9 cm]

Found on the Pacific slope in Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, Guerrero and Oaxaca states of Mexico on trees and rocks in ravines and rather humid oak-pine forests at elevations around 900 to 1700 meters as a medium sized, warm growing epiphyte, lithophyte or terrestrial with slightly flattened, almost smooth pseudobulbs carrying yellowish-green leaves with a short petiole and blooms in the summer and early fall on a pendant, 2 to 3 flowered, short inflorescence with 4 imbricating bracts and conduplicate floral bracts all carrying very fragrant, large flowers.
