Found in Rio de Janiero, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul states of Brazil in dry montane forests at elevations sealevel to 500 meters as a medium sized, warm to hot growing epiphyte or occasional terrestrial with ovoid to round, ribbed pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, petiolate leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a pendant, racemose, to 10" long, few to several flowered inflorescence with large, chartaceous bracts and carrying heavily fragrant flowers.
