Found in Guatemala as a natural hybrid between S. ecornuta and S. inodora in very hot lowland forests as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with oval, strongly ribbed and furrowed with age pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, plicate, lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into he petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a basal, pendent, to 4" [to 10 cm] long, normally 2 flowered inflorescence enveloped by large, spread, broadly triangular, acute floral bracts carrying fragrant flowers
