Found in Chimaltenango department of Guatemala in low montane, cloud forests at elevations around 1500 meters as a medium sized, cool growing, densely caespitose epiphyte with obliquely pyriform, strongly sulcate, olive green, pseudobulbs carrying a single, elliptic, plicate, acute, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on a pendent, normally 3 flowered inflorescence.
"Similar to S graveolens but differs in the pleasant sweet scent, by its yellow color with pink spots on its white labellum, vs orange, the lateral sepals are obliquely elliptical vs orbicular and the hypochile is elongated with 2 bumps, the distal oblique and orbicular vs a thick hypochile."
