Common Name Ana Gracia's Stelis [MS Reyes Guatemalan orchid enthusiast current]

Flower Size

Found in Alta Verapaz department of Guatemala at elevations around 1400 meters as a large sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with an erect, stout ramicual with 2 internodes and small, light green becoming brown and shriveling with age, bracts with a large ostium and carrying a single, apical, erect, sub-orbicular-ellipitc, apically microscopically aristate, basally ribbed-elliptic leaf that blooms in the fall on a shortly pedunculate, 8 to 10" [20 to 25 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence carrying strongly scented flowers.

"The new species is similar to S despectans but differs in the twice as large flowers and a much larger plant with a much wider leaf and a hippocrepiform lip with an obscure midlobe." Archila & Szlachetko 2014
