Found in Rio de Janiero state of Brazil in humid rainforests at elvations of 1000 to 1200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 tight, light brown sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly obovate, narrowing below into the pseudopetiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, slightly bent, to 4" [10 cm] long, 15 to 25 flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe from an annulus at the apex of the ramicaul.
