Found in Narino State of Colombia near Popayan in dense forests at elevations of 2500 to 3000 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with fasiculate, stout, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, imbricating sheaths and a loose, tubular sheath near the middle and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-oblong, subacute, sessile, cuneate below into the conduplicate base leaf that blooms on 1 to 2, slender, racemose, congested, more or less distichous, 6 to 8.4" [15 to 21 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising from the apex of the ramicaul and subtended by a broad spathe and infundibular floral bracts.
