Common Name The Beautiful Stelis

Found in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama in dense, wet tropical forests at elevations around 1050 to 1100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm growing, densely caespitose epiphyte with erect to ascending, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, scarious sheaths and carrying a single apical, erect, subcoriaceous, oblanceolate, conduplicate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on a filiform, slender, peduncle .6 to .8" [1.5 to 2 cm] long, rachis 4.2" [10.5 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with tubular, obliquely truncate, apiculate, shorter tahn the ovary floral rbats and carrying greenish white flowers.
"Recognized by the very short ramicauls covered completely by sheaths and carrying a linear-oblong to oblanceolate leaves. The inflorescence is about as long as the leaves, the peduncle is short .6 to .8" [1.5 to 2 cm] long,, minute flowers about .12" [3 mm] wide, with inflexed sepals, with the margin revolute, ovate and glabrous, the petals are cuneate-flabellate, attenuste to the base, single nerved and the lip is subrhombic to ovate-rhombic, narrow at the base with a longitudinal glenion limited by the 2 more or leass median calluii."
