Common Name LaSalle's Stelis

Found in Falcon & Merida ststes of northwestern Venezuela at elevations around 2400 meters as a mini-miniature to small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with an erect stem enveloped by 2, tubular, upper one acute to acuminate sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, oblong, rounded and slightly emarginate with a small tooth, longly attenuate into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on 1 to rarely 4, arising through an ovate, acute spathe , erect, peduncle very short, 1.48" to 4" [3.7 to 10 cm] long overall, shorter than the leaf, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with scarious, cucullate, shortly acuminate to apiculate, shorter than the the ovary floral bracts and carrying relatively small, whitish colored flowers.
