Found in Bolivar Ecuador at elevations around 1250 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by close, tubular sheath above the middle and 2 to 3 imbricating others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, contracted below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on 1 to 2, erect, congested, distichous, 4.8 to 6" [12 to 15 cm] long including the 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long peduncle, mostly simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe near the apex of the ramicaul with oblique, acute floral bracts.
