Common Name The Plate Stelis [refers to the shallow synsepal]

Found in Antioquia department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 1900 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath near the middle third and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-oblong, subacute, tridenticulate, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on 1 to 3, erect, slightly fractifex, subdistichous, 34" [8.5 cm] long including the .4 to 1" [2.5 cm] long peduncle, successively few, several flowered inflorescence arising from an annulus below the apex of the ramicaul with cucullate, acute floral bracts and carrying brilliant red exterior, reddish grey interior colored flowers.
