Common Name The Scarce Flowered Stelis [refers to the lax raceme]

Found in Brazil at elevations of 1000 to 1800 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-oblong, obtuse, tridenticulate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, distichous to subsecund, laxly, 3.2 to 4.8" [8 to 12 cm] long including the 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long peduncle, successively few, several flowered inflorescence arsing through an acute spathe with cucullate, apiculate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying flowers that are greenish yellow at the margins, vinose, purple to green at the center.
