Found in Imbabura province of Ecuador in primary forests in association with mosses and lichens and other miniature orchids at elevations around 1000 meters as a mini miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls enveloped by 2 loose, tubular. elliptic, basally truncate, acuminate apically sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, dark green, elliptic, slightly apiculate apically, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer and late fall on an erect,

"The new speies is similar to Stelis alloinfundibulosa but is distinguished by the inflorescence with conspicuous, deflexed, semirhomboid, very large dark rose colored bracts that exceed the length of the flowers versus with flat, rose green, that are wider than long, and the very short, compact pedicel of the flower that is dark maroon almost black and with white trichomes versus clear green, small, glabrous flowers witha pedicel that is longer than the diameter of the flowers in S alloinfundibulosa."
