Common Name Steyermark's Stelis [American Botanist in Venezuela 1900's]

Found in northwestern Venezuela at elevations around 2300 to 2450 meters as a small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to an erect to ascending stem enveloped by 2 to 3, thinly membraneous, tubular, evanescent, the upper one larger, acute to apiculate sheaths and carrying a single, erect, subcoriaceous, narrowly oblong to oblong-oblanceolate, obtuse, minutely tridenticulate, attenuate into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on 1 to rarly 2, arising through a scarious spathe, 1 to 4" [2.5 to 10 cm] long, longer than the leaf, many flowered inflorescence with amplexicaul, ovate, acute to acuminate, distichous, at least the upper ones imbricate, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying whitish to yellow to yellow green flowers.
