Found in Ecuador as a small sized epiphyte with an abbreviated stem enveloped by 3 to 4, imbricating sheaths with the upper ones being foliaceous and carrying conduplicate, articulate, membraneaceous, broadly elliptic-oblanceolate, obtuse to rounded, lightly veined, abaxially sharply carinate, narrowing below into the distinct, conduplicate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a lateral, .8" [2 cm] long, terete, laxly pendant, single flowered inflorescence arising from the axils of the lower sheaths
