Common Name The Compact Stolzia
Flower Size 1/2" [1.25 cm]
Found in Southern Malawi and Zimbabwe on mossy branches in montane forests at elevations of 1600 to 2300 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with ovoid or pear-shaped, chain-forming pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, oblanceolate, thin leaf that blooms in the winter on a very short, single flowered inflorescence with resupinate, campanulate, rather fleshy flowers.
The Type has yellow flowers, the variety purpurata has dull purple to brick red flowers that are slightly smaller as well as the plant smaller than the type .
