Found in northern Taiwan in broadleaved forests at elevations around 800 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with a short rhizome giving rise to close set, elongate-ovoid to nearly cylindrical, glabrous, dark purple pseudobulbs carrying elongate-elliptic, chartaceous, dark green, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring on an erect, arising from the rhizome, 12 to 12.8" [30 to 32 cm] long, densely 16 to 28 flowered inflorescence.
