Found in penninsular Malaysia, Java, Sumatra and Borneo in open forests at elevations of 600 to 1500 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with cylindrical to conical pseudobulbs and elliptic, acute, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, basal, 6.8 to 14.4" [17 to 36 cm] long, 3 to 10 flowered inflorescence with ovate to triangular floral bracts
