Found in Azuay province of Ecuador at elevations around 1900 to 2000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to small flattened pseudobulbs enveloped by 2 to 3 leaves and carrying a single, apical, thick, elliptic-oblong, obtuse, dehiscent at the base leaf that blooms on a triangular peduncle, 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm] long, rachis short, few flowered inflorescence with a navicular, acute floral bracts
