Found in southern Ecuador and Peru in upper montane cloud forests at elevations around 2800 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with a short stem enveloped completely by disitichous, imbricating sheaths and carrying narrowly obovate, acute, apiculate, narrowing towards the base leaves that blooms in the summer through fall on a terminal, erect, 3.6" [9 cm] long, flattened, successively 1 to 2, 3 to 7 flowered inflorescence with ovate, congested, concave, boat-shaped bracts
