Found in Loja province of Ecuador at elevations around 2500 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to small flattened pseudobulbs enveloped by 2 to 3 leaves and carrying a single, apical, thick, elliptic-oblong, obtuse, dehiscent at the base leaf that blooms on a triangular peduncle, 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm] long, rachis short, few flowered inflorescence with navicular, acute floral bracts
