Found in Costa Rica in boggy depressions at elevations around 2275 to 3100 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with a trailing to repent, apex upturned, elongate stem enveloped by imbricate leaf sheaths carrying fleshy, distichous, oblong-lanceolate to oblong-elliptic, apiculate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the base leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an axillary to subterminal, slender, to 12" [30 cm] long, laxly 1 to 5 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acuminate, cucullate floral bracts.
