Common Name Volles' Telipogon [German Orchid Botanist Current]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in southern Colombia and nothern Ecuador at elevations of 2500 to 3400 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with a short stem enveloped completely by distichous, imbricating, conduplicate, leaf sheaths carrying narrowly obovate, acute apically, apiculate, narrowing below into the base leaves that blooms in the winter and again in the summer on 1 to 2, terminal, erect, peduncle to 1.6" [2 cm] long, flattened, to 2" [5 cm] long overall, successively 1 to 2, 3 to 5 flwoered inflorescence with ovate, tight, concave, much shorter than the 3 winged pedicel, boat-shaped floral bracts and carrying flowers that are tan-yellow fading to white in the lower 1/3rd of each segment with broad, red-brown veins and very numerous red-brown reticulation between the veins, a purple-red column and purple red, if present spines
