Found in Southern Colombia and Ecuador near Guayaquil in wet montane cloud forests at elevations of 1000 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with an elongate rhizome carrying round, ovate pseudobulbs enveloped basally by papery sheaths and carrying a single, apical, narrowly linear-lanceolate, plicate, acute leaf that blooms on an erect, 3" [7.5 cm] long inflorescence with a resupinate, single, nodding flower with a 3 lobed lip with short midlobe. This species does best mounted, given shade and plenty of humidity and air circulation and an even yet careful watering schedule year round.
