Found in Victoria and South Australia in drier mallee shrublands, open forests and woodlands at eleavtions of 5 to 200 meters as a mini-miniature to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a single leaf that blooms in the winter through mid spring on an erect, provided with 1 to 3 [usually 2], often reddish purple sterile bracts, 4 to 24" [10 to 60 cm] long, 2 to 12 flowered inflorescence
