Found in New South Wales and Victoria Australia in montane, subalpine and alpine areas in grassy forests, snowgum woodlands and in alpine meadows at elevations of 500 to 1600 meters as a small to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with a single leaf that blooms in the spring through early summer on an erect, provided with 2 to 3 sterile bracts, 6 to 32" [15 to 80 cm] long, 2 to 20 flowered inflorescence
