Found in New Zealand in lowland to montane forests in peat bogs, gumland scrub and clay banks as a cold growing terrestrial with the base of the stem red stained, carrying a single, broad, arching, v shaped in crossection, not ribbed leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, to 6 or so flowered inflorescence carrrying fragrant flowers.
