This large sized, cool to cold growing species is a terrestrial from New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia occuring in open forests and fields at elevations of 5 to 1000 meters with subterranean tubers with a slender stem carrying a single, glabrous, long, ovate-lanceolate, deeply and often widely channeled leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, racemose, several flowered inflorescence with many fragrant flowers with smaller, acuminate floral bracts.
