Found in New Zealand in lowland to montane wetlands and damp areas amongst shrubs as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a tuber giving rise to a single, wide, keeled leaf that blooms in the spring to early summer on an erect, to 24" [60 cm] long, to 6 or more flowered inflorecence with a wide basal sheath
