Found in penninsular Thailand, Laos?, Vietnam, Hainan province of China, Andaman Islands, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and the Philippines in swamp forests, poor grasslands, lower montane forests or on rocks or scambling over small shrubs at elevations of 30 to 1000 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing, monopodial terrestrial with climbing, pale-yellow-green often spotted purple stems carrying alternate, coriaceous, ovate, basally cordate and clasping, olive green leaves thatblooms in the spring, summer and fall on an axillary, 4 to 10" [10 to 25 cm] long, conspicuously bracteate inflorescence with 2 wide open, successively many flowers produced on a congested rachis.
