Found in Panama in wet forests at elevations around 700 to 800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls producing a new ramicauls from the apex of the previous and each enveloped by 3 to 4 lepanthiform sheaths with long-ciliate dilated ostia and carrying a single, apical, erect, 3 striped with purple beneath, coriaceous, margins minutely denticulate, broadly elliptical, obtuse to rounded, broadly cuneate to rounded below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a filiform, loose, subflexuous, to .68" [1.7 cm] long, simultaneously few [4] flowered inflorescence arising from near the apex of the ramicaul.
"The inflorescence is similar to T scabridula but vegetatively it is very distinct. The sheaths of the comparitively stout ramicauls are long ciliate along the dilated margins of the ostia. The leaves are similar in size but the margins are minutely denticulate like many species from Hispanola. Also the leaves are 3 striped with purlple beneath." Luer 1997
