Found in penninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo on tree trunks over running water at elevations of sea level to 1800 meters a large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with thick stems enveloped by distichous, leaf bearing sheaths carrying stiff, tapering towards the apex, acute leaves that blooms in the later summer on a very short, dense, to .4" [1 cm] long, successively several flowered inflorescence with broad, pubescent bracts.
