Found in Morona-Santiago Ecuador as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte at elevations around 1000 meters in wet, deeply shaded montane forests with almost round, small pseudobulbs partially enveloped basally by 2, thin, dry, longitudinally folded sheaths and carrying a single, narrowly elliptical, thickly coriaceous, acute, slightly conduplicate longitudinally for most of length, gradually becoming tighter and more folded to form a short petiolate base leaf that blooms on a pendant, 1.6" [4 cm] long, basal, strongly fractiflex, 1 to several flowered inflorescence arising on a recently mature pseudobulb along the basal sheath and the single flowers open in succession.
