Found in Mexico, Belize, Niacragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba,, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in tropical, wet and moist forests at elevations around 70 to 400 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with small pseudobulbs enveloped by non leaf bearing sheaths and carrying a single apical, very narrow, thick leaf that blooms on a basal, pendulous, few flowered, 1 to 2" [2.5 to 5 cm] long inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb in the late winter and spring carrying fragrant flowers.
