Found in Assam, Bangladesh, Eastern Himalayas, Bhutan, India, Myanamar, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Java, Sumatra and the Philippines in primary and disturbed forests at elevations of sea level to 1600 meters as a small to just medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial orchid with a thin and woody sometimes basally branching stem enveloped loosely by 4 sheaths and carrying 2 [rarely 3] apical, plicate, ovate, acuminate, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, erect, 4.4" [11 cm] long, densely 20 to 30 flowered inflorescence with narrowly triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate flowers.
