Found in Japan, The Ryukyus and Taiwan in forests at low to medium elevations as a medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, slender, often branched stem with the proximal nodes enveloped by sheaths and carrying 1 to 2, alternate, elliptic to ovate-lanceolate, papery, acute apically leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, subglobose, sparsely pubescent, to 2.4" [6 cm] long, 5 to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate flowers
