Found in Taiwan and the southern Ryukyu Islands at low elevations as a small sized, hot growing terresrial with an ascending rhizome giving rise to an unbbranched to 1 to 2 branched stem provided with many sheaths carrying 1 to 2, apical, ovate to cordate, 7 to 13 veined, acute, rounded below into the base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, terminal, 1.6 to 3.2" [4 to 78 cm] long, 10 to 20 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, as long as to slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate flowers.
