Found in central Madagascar in marshes and cypress plantations at elevations of 1500 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with fasciculate, narrowly turnip-shaped tubers giving rise to stem basally sheathed by several narrowly adpressed sheaths and carrying medially, 1 to 2, narrowly linear, leaves grading to bracts above that blooms in the late spring and summer on an erect, 5.2" [to 13cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate-acuminate, slightly longer than the flower floral bracts
