Found in Brazil and northeastern Paraguay as a viney terrestrial.
”A membranaceous Vanilla which seems to be closely related and perhaps not distinct from V. parvifolia, except for its more ruffled tepals, a trait that is very variable in other membranaceous vanillas. V. edwallii and V. bertoniensis are allied, but both have a long acuminate lip.” Soto Arenas & Cribb 2010
