Common Name or Meaning The Modest Veyretia

Flower Size

Found in Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Venezuela and Sao Paulo state of Brazil among mossed and sphagnum mosses in waterlogged areas at elevations around 300 to 800 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with no leaves at blooming occuring in the winter and later spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 6" [to 15 cm] long, glabrous below, pilose above, covered in 3 to 4 tubular sheathing bracts, rachis 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long, laxly 3 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, as long as to slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying erect flowers.

"Similar to V neuroptera but smaller, more slender, more often single to rarely biflowered and has shorter flowers with a more oblong-oval apical lobe of the labellum and different petals.
